Even before kindergarten, our sexual experience begins when we discover the pleasure of rubbing against bodies or objects. Movement artist Esther Arribas sees rubbing as the erotic act closest to our first nature. Their installation is a full-bodied pleasure scale, in which we are reacquainted with rubbing as a liberating technique to experience pleasure. By trying different rubbing and scissoring techniques, the dividing lines between man/woman, active/passive, top/bottom that arise from the dominating sexual dichotomy between penetrater and penetrated disappear. Rubbing offers space for new sexual possibilities.
